Just thinking about j-hope going crazy
It’s really hard to explain to people who aren’t flowseekers what it feels like to look forward to something you’re a massive fan of. At the moment the potency of my BTS-fuelled interior life is bleeding into my real one. I even put a BTS music video recommendation into my work slack channel today (got 6 pity emoji hearts for my troubles). When I wake in the morning, my first thought is about BTS. When I go to sleep, I wonder what I’ll miss overnight. It must be weird to be married to me right now. Last night my husband was playing a video game and I emerged from the kitchen and said to him earnestly,
“Can you imagine if you took 4 years off from your job, and then your first day back was being livestreamed to the entire world on Netflix?”
I got a genuine belly laugh out of him for that one. We’d just finished watching the Chinese Grand Prix and he was convinced for the first half of my sentence that I was talking about Kimi Antonelli’s historic win. He laughed because he knew he should have guessed sooner. I only have one subject matter at the moment, and it comes spilling out of me at the most inopportune times — like tonight when he was trying to cook dinner and I decided he had to see Jung Kook’s new TikTok dance challenge.
Today I’m thinking about what Hobi ‘going crazy’ looks like. As you may know, j-hope is my bias. In the few tidbits of info we’ve received so far from BTS about the new album, they’ve all agreed that ‘j-hope goes crazy on Arirang’. Even Jimin’s dad said that, apparently.
j-hope going crazy is the reason he’s my bias. He is like a living paradox: on the one hand a literal ray of sunshine — keeping the team afloat with his exuberance and enthusiasm, laughing with his whole body — and on the other hand displaying a frankly unfair amount of aura when he performs.
Here are my top moments of j-hope going crazy.
Another random feature of K-pop is ‘focus’ fan cams. A j-hope focus is a work of art. The man has no off switch when he’s on stage.
Anyway it’s 1am. I’m going to sleep for a bit. Can’t wait to hear Hobi go crazy on Friday when Arirang comes out.
